About The School

Mount Cameron Primary School is a non‑denominational Primary and Nursery school situated in the St Leonards South area of East Kilbride. The school opened in 1970 and relocated to a new building in 2017. It is the only school in the South Lanarkshire Council estate offering Gaelic Medium Education, providing four Gaelic classes and seven English classes. The school also hosts the Mounties Private Partnership Nursery Class in its building, offering an Early Years provision of 1,140 hours across English and Gaelic Medium Education. The school values respect, kindness, honesty, equality and friendship and is part of the Calderglen Learning Community.

Position Details

  • Location: Mount Cameron Primary School.
  • Hours: 35 hours per week.
  • Salary: Depute Head Teacher 3, £69,438 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Teacher in the overall management of the school as part of the Management Team.
  • Deputise for the Head Teacher in their absence and take responsibility for leadership, good management and strategic direction of colleagues.
  • Assist in the delivery of the curriculum and contribute to whole school initiatives, as appropriate, carrying out duties outlined in Annexe B of "A Teaching Profession for the 21st Century".
  • Work to create a high quality learning and working environment for pupils and staff, in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals.

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified (GTC) Primary Teacher.
  • Registered with the General Teaching Council (Scotland).
  • Overseas Criminal Records Check required for applicants born or living outside the UK for the past 10 years; evidence must be provided in English.

Legislative and Disclosure Requirements

  • Post is excepted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Scotland) Act 2020.
  • Post is a regulated role with children and/or adults under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020; applicants must be cleared by the Screening and Vetting Group.
