Location: Mount Cameron Primary School. Hours: 35 hours per week. Salary: Depute Head Teacher 3, £69,438 per year.

About the school: Our School Mount Cameron is a non-denominational Primary and Nursery school situated in the St Leonards South area of East Kilbride. The school opened in 1970 and the new school building was opened in 2017. Our school is a unique establishment within the South Lanarkshire Council school estate as it is the only school offering a primary school Gaelic Medium Education in the authority. We currently have four Gaelic classes and seven English classes. The Gaelic Department represents children from across South Lanarkshire Council. We offer an Early Years Provision of 1140 hours within two nursery classes: one for English and one for Gaelic Medium Education. In addition to our own nursery classes, Mounties Private Partnership Nursery Class is hosted within our school building, and we welcome and celebrate positive relationships across our settings. Many Mounties children continue onto Mount Cameron. The nursery classes are included in life and work of the school and there are many opportunities to work and learn together.

We have recently reviewed our shared school values (Respect – Urram, Kindness – Coibhneas, Honesty – Onair, Equality – Co-ion-nanachd and Friendship – Cairdeas). These values underpin everything we do and is part of our shared language across the school community. Mount Cameron Primary School & Nursery Classes are part of the Calderglen Learning Community, and our feeder secondary school is Calderglen High. The school celebrates positive relationships with Calderglen and its’ feeder primary schools. Our school has a strong reputation within the local and wider community.

The Depute Head Teacher is required to:

  • Assist the Head Teacher in the overall management of the school as part of a Management Team.
  • Deputise for the Head Teacher in their absence and have responsibility for the leadership, good management and strategic direction of colleagues.

Teacher Salary: In line with the Teachers’ Conditions of Service, your salary for the remainder of this school salary year, which runs in conjunction with the academic session, may be recalculated to reflect how teachers accrue pay. GTC Registration: It is a legal requirement for any teacher teaching in a Scottish state school to be registered with GTC Scotland, General Teaching Council (Scotland) Registration.

Overseas Criminal Records Check: An Overseas Criminal Records Check is required where applicants born outside the UK (Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland) or who have lived or worked outside the UK for a continuous period of three months in the past 10 years. Applicants are responsible for providing evidence of the Overseas Criminal Record Check. The check must be translated into English and should come from the police, judicial authority, government department or home embassy of the country or countries concerned. The check must include an official statement confirming that the applicant does not have any history of or pending criminal record proceedings. Checks may be carried out to authenticate the documents provided.
