Position Overview

Location: Canberra Primary School, Belmont Drive, East Kilbride, G75 8HD.

Hours: 30 hours per week on a term‐time basis.

Work Pattern: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 2:30 pm.

Hourly Rate: £14.02 – £14.33 per hour.

Post Status: Temporary until 31 December 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of Facility Assistants (Catering), including training, recruitment, attendance maximisation and team briefs.
  • Ensure the provision of a quality catering service and advise management on stock or quality control issues.
  • Carry out cash counting, balancing and recording of financial transactions (CDCH3).
  • Prepare, cook and present a varied selection of menu items.
  • Manage function work as required and transfer food items within and outside the kitchen for serving.
  • Execute practical tasks relating to storage, preparation, cooking and service of food, including cleaning of floors, walls, food production areas, equipment and utensils.
  • Allocate duties, create work rotas, provide basic routine training, maximise attendance, and perform clerical and financial duties associated with the catering function.
  • Carry out quality audits and Environmental Health action points, complying with food safety systems.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Effective communication skills, ability to work independently on own initiative, prioritise workload, and demonstrate customer‑orientated service experience.
  • Prior cook‑in‑charge or catering management experience is preferred.
