Location: Roads, Transportation and Fleet Services, 4 Livingstone Boulevard, Blantyre, G72 0BP
Hours: 37 hours per week
Work Pattern: Early shift Monday - Thursday 6.00am to 2.00pm and Friday 6.00am to 13.30pm. Late shift Monday - Thursday 2.00pm to 10.00pm and Friday 12.30pm to 8.00pm.
Salary: £29,612 - £29,979 annual salary
Community and Enterprise are currently looking to recruit a Vehicle Workshop Operator to join our Fleet Services Team. Fleet Services are responsible for the maintenance and repair of the Council's 17,000 vehicles and plant. As a Workshop operative you will be an integral part of the team. You must have a working knowledge of a fast-paced vehicle workshop environment and can identify vehicle components. Desirable - Cat B license and an HGV licence.
The main duties and responsibilities will include:
- Clean vehicles including pressure washing and internal cab cleanliness.
- Carry out cleaning and tidying of workshop / yard and vehicle washing areas.
- Assist Mechanics while working on vehicles.
- Carry out minor vehicle maintenance work under the supervision of qualified staff.
- Move vehicles including taking them for annual inspection.
- Assist with the recovery of roadside breakdowns.
- Collect or return spare parts from suppliers.
Preferred candidates identified after the selection event process will be required to assist the recruitment team, if need be, to ensure timely completion of recruitment checks. If recruitment checks are not completed within a reasonable timescale, you may automatically be withdrawn from this position.
