Location: Duke Street Car Park, Duke Street, Hamilton, ML3 7ER

Hours: 35 hours per week

Work Pattern: Working 5 days over 7, with 3 out of 4 Saturdays and 1 out of 4 Sundays

Salary: £28,358 - £28,577 annual salary

An opportunity has arisen for motivated and enthusiastic individuals to be part of our Parking team responsible for the Council’s on and off-street parking enforcement, undertaking patrols and issuing penalty charge notices to those vehicles found to be parked in contravention of Traffic Regulation Orders.

To succeed in this role, you will have a good basic level of education and be able to read, understand and follow policies and procedures, along with experience of working in a customer-based environment. You should also have a good understanding of smart phones and how they operate. A knowledge and understanding of personal health and safety requirements is required.

You must have good verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to remain composed in difficult and conflicting situations. You should be customer focused with the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. You must be able to work outside in all weathers and be able to cope with the physical and emotional demands of the job. A current driving licence is essential.

You will be required to travel to various locations within South Lanarkshire in the vehicle provided and patrol on foot a designated area throughout.

Preferred candidates identified after the selection event process will be required to assist the recruitment team, if need be, to ensure timely completion of recruitment checks. If recruitment checks are not completed within a reasonable timescale, you may automatically be withdrawn from this position.

Canvassing of Elected Members or employees of South Lanarkshire's Council directly or indirectly in connection with any appointment within the Council shall disqualify the applicant.

An Overseas Criminal Records Check is required where applicants born outside the UK (Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland) or who have lived or worked outside the UK for a continuous period of twelve months in the past 10 years. Applicants are responsible for providing evidence of the Overseas Criminal Record Check. The check must be translated into English and should come from the police, judicial authority, government department or home embassy of the country or countries concerned.
