The predicted salary is between 11 - 12 £ per hour.

Location: Forrest Street Depot, 18 Forrest Street, Blantyre, G72 0JP

Hours: 37.64 hours per week

Work Pattern: Monday - Thursday 7:30am - 3:30pm and Friday 7:30am - 3:00pm

Hourly Rate: £14.02 - £14.33 per hour

A position has arisen within South Lanarkshire Council Waste Services for a Waste Services Operative (Loader) based at our Blantyre depot. As the successful candidate you will have the ability to undertake a range of skilled refuse collection and recycling duties ensuring compliance with the Environmental Protection Act, Council Policies and Health and Safety Legislation. You will provide a quality front line Refuse Collection Service within the local community as well as assisting the driver in the safe manoeuvring of the vehicle on collection routes.

Main Responsibilities are:

  • To participate in the planning of the daily route according to requests for service and to undertake the completion of related records and paperwork as required.
  • To assess whether recycling waste is contaminated or clean and advise members of the public accordingly, providing appropriate information on the recycling scheme.
  • To provide information to members of the public regarding the recycling schemes in operation and advise customers of the full range of services provided by Waste Services.
  • To undertake waste stream identification, i.e. dry recyclables, residual waste, bulky uplifts, POPs and fridges etc. to ensure correct disposal.
