South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Fitness Assistant to join our team at Eastfield Lifestyles. The successful applicant will support our customers on their fitness journey, building rapport quickly to engage and educate them on the latest fitness trends and support them through their training as well as ensuring that the gym is kept clean and tidy.

You must hold a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification, relevant HNC or equivalent. Applicants should have excellent interaction skills. Experience of working within a gym environment would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be given.

Location: Eastfield Lifestyles, Glenside Drive, Rutherglen

Hours: 25.125 per week

Work Pattern:

  • Week 1: Mon 9.00 am - 3.00 pm, Wed and Thurs 2.00 pm - 9.15 pm, Fri 10:00 am - 3.00 pm
  • Week 2: Mon 9.00 am - 2:00 pm, Thurs 2.30 pm - 9.15 pm, Sat and Sun 8.00 am - 4.30 pm

Hourly Rate: £14.12 - £14.27 per hour

Duration: Fixed Term to 31 March 2027

Overseas Criminal Records Check: An Overseas Criminal Records Check is required where applicants born outside the UK (Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland) or who have lived or worked outside the UK for a continuous period of twelve months in the past 10 years. Applicants are responsible for providing evidence of the Overseas Criminal Record Check. The check must be translated into English and should come from the police, judicial authority, government department or home embassy of the country or countries concerned. The check must include an official statement confirming that the applicant does not have any history of or pending criminal record proceedings. Checks may be carried out to authenticate the documents provided.

Preferred candidates identified after the selection event process will be required to assist the recruitment team, if need be, to ensure timely completion of recruitment checks. If recruitment checks are not completed within a reasonable timescale, you may automatically be withdrawn from this position. Any candidate canvassing elected members or employees, either directly or indirectly, in relation to recruitment, will immediately be disqualified.
