Role Overview

Fleet Services maintain the full range of over 1,700 vehicles and plant operated by the Council in a fully equipped workshop in Blantyre and a satellite workshop in Lanark. We have one of the largest local authority fleets in Scotland, ranging from small cars to 32‑ton tippers and various types of small and large plant items. Join us and you’ll have the opportunity to lead a shift across the range of fleet we operate, ultimately working towards maximum availability of assets from small electric cars to 32‑ton tippers.

37 hours per week

Work Pattern

  • Early Shift: Monday - Thursday 6am - 2pm; Friday 6am - 1.30pm
  • Late Shift: Monday - Thursday 2pm - 10pm; Friday 12.30pm - 8pm

Salary

£44,641 - £45,625 annual salary

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a shift across the range of fleet we operate, working towards maximum availability of assets from small electric cars to 32‑ton tippers.
  • Provide a wide range of supports to the local community, operating throughout day and night.
  • Maintain vehicles and plant, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and meeting vehicle maintenance, alternative fuels vehicle, and MOT standards.

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification and time served technician with proven skills in a commercial and/or operational fleet workshop environment.
  • Comprehensive and relevant expertise within workshop management, knowledge of compliance/legislative/new technological requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience of relevant Health and Safety legislation.
  • Experience of vehicle maintenance, alternative fuels vehicle and MOT standards.
  • Current full Cat B licence (essential); LGV/PCV licence desirable.
  • Desire to hold an HGV driving licence and a driver’s CPC qualification.
