Job Overview

Divisional Assessor responsible for management of a team, coordinating and delivering services across all three functions carried out by Lanarkshire Valuation Joint Board. The role involves providing direction to the team regarding property inspections and valuations, analysing both cost and rental transactions, devising schemes of valuation, negotiating proposals and appeals with professional agents/rate payers, and acting as an expert witness in relation to both Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rating.

Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Will have a direct impact on the progress of trainee valuers, guiding them through the different stages of the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence process.
  • Take a lead role in the coordination of the valuation services and contribute to strategic planning.
  • As a member of the management team, it will be necessary to share ideas for change and improvement, shaping the future of the valuation section regarding the three yearly revaluations.
  • Attend regular management team meetings and have the opportunity to discuss and become involved in areas of governance.
  • Represent the Assessor at Tribunal hearings, leading evidence and acting as an expert witness when required.
  • Maintain a positive, professional attitude with the ability to work under pressure while ensuring strict deadlines are achieved.
  • Work as part of a team or individually.

Qualifications

  • Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
  • A full driving licence and use of a car for business purposes, or the ability to drive a pool car for business purposes, is desirable for this role, but not required.
