Management Accountant | £50,000 per annum | North Manchester |Permanent

We are working with a member-focused services organisation to recruit a hands-on Management Accountant.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will lead the finance team and take ownership of accurate, timely accounting and management information.

Alongside the regular reporting cycle, you will be involved in statutory accounts, regulatory reporting, treasury and investment monitoring, giving this role breadth beyond a traditional management accounts position.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys staying close to the detail while supporting colleagues, strengthening controls and making finance work effectively across the organisation.

The Role

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, bank reconciliations and financial information, supporting budget preparation and ongoing monitoring.
  • Prepare annual statutory accounts and supporting audit information, and assist with regulatory returns and solvency calculations.
  • Lead and develop the finance team, agreeing priorities, setting objectives and identifying training needs.
  • Maintain accounting records and the fixed asset register, and develop effective finance procedures and controls.
  • Work with the Trainee Actuary on treasury deposits, cash flow and investment performance reporting, and support the team with investment unit pricing.
  • Prepare payroll, maintain payroll and pension records, and complete related returns and expenses processing.

About You

  • You will bring a strong grounding in management accounts, financial control and year-end reporting, together with a practical approach to leading and supporting a finance team.
  • Comfortable moving between detailed accounting work and wider reporting responsibilities, you will be organised, confident managing deadlines and able to communicate clearly with colleagues across the organisation.
  • A commitment to accuracy, ethical working and treating members fairly will be central to your approach.
