Contract: Permanent

The post holder will be part of a team delivering the council’s private sector housing enforcement functions. The role will include:

  • Undertaking housing inspections
  • Making assessments using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS)
  • Inspecting and licensing houses in multiple occupation and caravan sites

We are seeking a motivated and keen individual to join our Private Sector Housing Team. The role will cover all elements of the Private Sector Housing regulatory compliance including:

  • Property inspections
  • Enforcement of standards
  • A particular focus on Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and the mandatory licensing regime

This is an excellent opportunity for an officer with a strong interest in improving housing standards, protecting vulnerable tenants, and ensuring compliance with housing legislation across the private rented sector.

You will play a key role in delivering proactive and reactive enforcement work, supporting licensing schemes, and contributing to the Authority’s wider housing and public health priorities.

Responsible to: Environmental Health Manager (PSH/EP/DFG)
