We are seeking a skilled and reliable Plasterer to join our Housing Repairs team within South Holland District Councils Housing Department. The role is fixed term for 12 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out plastering and flooring works to the Council’s housing stock and premises, including full re‑skims, patch repairs, rendering, self‑levelling, tiling and making good after other trades.
- Prepare surfaces and finishes to a high standard, ensuring readiness for decoration or further works.
- Make informed decisions on the most appropriate repair methods, balancing cost‑effectiveness and durability.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Health & Safety legislation, including the Health & Safety at Work Act.
- Maintain accurate communication with the office team regarding job progress, issues encountered, and completion status.
- Translate technical plastering issues into clear, understandable information for non‑technical staff to support decision‑making.
- Mobile‑based, conducting on‑site repairs to tenanted and void properties, working by yourself and as a team to ensure properties are safe, functional and well‑maintained.
Requirements
- NVQ Level 2 Plastering or equivalent time served.
- Proven experience in domestic or social housing maintenance.
- Full UK driving licence (company van provided).
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage workload.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with tenants and the public.
