South Hampstead High School is seeking a hands-on, multi-skilled maintenance professional to play a key role keeping our busy school site operational, safe and well-maintained. Working as part of a professional and supportive site team, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of practical maintenance and repair tasks across the school, including basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating, electrical fault-finding and general building maintenance.
The role also involves supporting the wider operational needs of the school, including preparing spaces for events and exams, liaising with contractors, moving equipment and helping ensure the site is secure and operational throughout the school day. This is a varied, hands-on role suited to somebody with practical maintenance or trade skills who enjoys problem-solving and takes pride in delivering high standards of work.
Previous building maintenance or trade experience is essential, ideally gained within a school, education or similar busy environment. Joining our site team means becoming part of a professional, supportive and well-organised team where your practical skills and contribution will be recognised and appreciated and you can take pride in maintaining a school environment used by hundreds of pupils and staff every day.
Based on a single site, this opportunity offers structured working hours, long-term stability and a more predictable working pattern than many self-employed or reactive maintenance positions. You will also benefit from generous annual leave, a pension scheme, paid sick leave, training and development opportunities, season ticket and cycle-to-work schemes, and access to a wide range of additional staff benefits.
The school may also conduct online searches (including publicly available social media searches) as part of our recruitment processes.
