South Hampstead High School is seeking an enthusiastic and well-qualified Teacher of Classics to join our dynamic and thriving Classics department on a part-time basis to cover a period of maternity leave.
As a Teacher of Classics, you will deliver inspiring and engaging lessons across a broad and ambitious curriculum that includes Latin, Classical Civilisation, Classical Greek and Greek Theatre. The department is exceptionally well resourced and places a strong emphasis on fostering pupils’ curiosity and passion for the classical world both inside and outside the classroom.
We offer a rich extra-curricular programme, with annual overseas visits to classical sites in Italy, Greece, Sicily and France, alongside UK trips to destinations such as Hadrian’s Wall and Verulamium in St Albans. Staff are also actively involved in a partnership initiative with the University College London School in Swiss Cottage.
Applications are welcomed from experienced teachers, Early Career Teachers and graduates looking to begin a career in teaching. You will be able to teach Latin and Classical Civilisation from beginner level through to A Level. The ability to teach Classical Greek would be advantageous. This is a part time role working either a 0.6 or 0.8 timetable. Please state your preference in your application.
