We currently have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, dedicated and skilled CEMAST Technician/Workshop Assistant. The information below provides more detail about the role.

Benefits

  • 6 weeks leave per year (pro rata) plus bank holidays (pro rata).
  • Regular training and development.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare learning materials, tools and equipment for student use in taught sessions.
  • Support students in the workshops/laboratories as directed by CAM or CD.
  • Reclaim materials at the end of the teaching day, recycling where appropriate.
  • Organise and maintain workshops.
  • Ensure that the College’s health, safety and welfare policies and procedures are adhered to, notifying the lecturer of any potential hazards or taking appropriate action to ensure a healthy environment.
  • Write and update Risk Assessment for the curriculum area relating to the use of spaces, equipment and activities.
  • Update and maintain COSHH, maintenance and other relevant records for the engineering department workshops.
  • Ensure all staff and students are familiar with and can operate equipment safely.
  • Keep records of any instruction on equipment carried out.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in a workshop environment.
  • Experience of Microsoft Office.
  • Self‑motivated team player.

Qualifications

  • Hold a minimum of a level 3 qualification.

  • Methodical approach, accuracy and self‑motivated.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
