We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Paramedic to join our progressive and friendly GP Practice. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a supportive multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, patient-centred care within General Practice.
Main duties of the job
As a Paramedic in General Practice, you will work autonomously alongside GPs, nurses, and allied health professionals to assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of acute and chronic presentations. You will play a key role in improving access to care, supporting same-day demand, and providing holistic, evidence-based clinical decision-making for patients across all age groups.
The ideal candidate will be confident in managing undifferentiated presentations, committed to continuous professional development, and passionate about delivering safe, effective, and compassionate care in a community setting. Job responsibilities
The post-holder will work as an autonomous practitioner, providing high-quality clinical care to our practice population and delivering an excellent standard of service in line with national primary care standards and relevant professional guidance. They will uphold HCPC standards of conduct, performance and ethics, and contribute to the effective delivery and ongoing development of the practice. The successful candidate will lead by example, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment while maintaining strong professional relationships within the multidisciplinary team. They will work within their scope of practice, recognising when to seek support or escalate care appropriately to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes.
Person Specification
- Registered Paramedic with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Demonstrable experience of autonomous clinical practice, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development (CPD) and maintaining professional registration
- Ability to manage a varied and unpredictable clinical workload in a primary care setting
- Sound clinical judgement with an understanding of when to escalate or refer appropriately
- Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in line with professional standards
- Experience working in a primary care, urgent care, or community healthcare setting
- Independent prescribing qualification (or working towards it)
- Experience managing undifferentiated presentations in a primary care environment
- Familiarity with SystmOne
- Experience of home visits and community-based patient care
