As Transport Coordinator, you will be responsible for the coordination of passenger transport services for a range of clients including home to school transport and vulnerable young people or adults. By liaising with key contacts, you will ensure transport services run smoothly while meeting client needs in a cost-effective and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in setting up the supply frameworks for day-to-day transport provision by external contractors; liaise and negotiate with service providers over contractual and operational matters.
  • Schedule transport, optimise routes and timings to use resources efficiently and meet client and customer requirements.
  • Work with stakeholders and operators to handle transport issues (e.g., service failure due to sickness or breakdown) and arrange alternative or replacement services.
  • Research and source specialist equipment for individual requirements (e.g., car seats, harnesses, wheelchair transport) and ensure appropriate training is provided.
  • Assist in the investigation of accidents and reported incidents on provided transport, including safeguarding considerations, and proactively monitor technical and contract conditions.
  • Have relevant qualifications or equivalent experience (e.g., HNC/HND or NVQ Level 3 CILT Transport Coordinator or equivalent).
  • Demonstrate experience in a transport-related field, ideally involving passenger transport, with knowledge of transport-related legislation and regulations.
  • With external contractors and organisations, maintain a strong customer focus and good team-working and interpersonal skills.
  • Work under pressure and to tight deadlines to deliver front-line operational services.
  • Possess good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and transport IT systems such as Capita.

Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or NVQ Level 3 CILT Transport Coordinator or equivalent, or relevant work experience.
  • Experience in passenger transport provision and knowledge of transport legislation/regulations.
  • Experience working with external contractors; strong customer focus and teamwork skills.
