As a Social Worker or Advanced Social Worker, your focus will be to deliver high-quality statutory reviews that improve outcomes, promote independence and enhance wellbeing for adults with care and support needs, using a strengths-based and person-centred approach. Working collaboratively with partners, you will ensure individuals receive timely and appropriate support, enabling them to live as independently as possible.

With a strong emphasis on effective and lawful practice, you will ensure care and support remains appropriate and delivers best value, while supporting confident professional judgement and defensible decision making.

It will be your responsibility to manage a caseload of adults with care and support needs, helping them and their carers to identify goals, build on strengths and develop practical solutions. You will complete high-quality reviews, including needs assessments, care and support planning and safeguarding enquiries, ensuring plans remain strengths-based, proportionate, outcome focused and promote independence. In all aspects of your practice, you will promote dignity, choice and wellbeing, using sound professional judgement to balance safety, independence and positive outcomes.

A key aspect of the role will be working collaboratively with a wide range of colleagues across different functions and partner organisations. You will maintain accurate, timely and confidential records in line with professional and council standards.

Advanced Social Worker – Additional Responsibilities

Drawing on research and evidence-based practice, you will lead on more complex and high-risk cases, applying advanced professional judgement and taking responsibility for key decisions. Acting as a role model, you will support and develop best practice across the team through advice, mentoring and shared learning. You will contribute to workforce development, including supporting and supervising students on placement. In line with advanced practitioner expectations, you will maintain up-to-date core training and actively engage in continuing professional development.

What we need from you

It is essential that you hold a recognised professional qualification in social work as well as registration with Social Work England. You will bring significant experience in adult social care, with a strong understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding procedures. We require you to have experience with Continued Health Care (CHC), including completing CHC checklists.

Advanced Social Worker – Additional Requirements

We are looking for someone who can bring significant post-qualification experience, including working with individuals with complex needs. You must evidence advanced level practice, demonstrating high-quality professional reasoning, sound judgement and leadership in complex situations. You will be expected to take a lead role in supporting practice development, contributing to and promoting high standards across the team.

Social Worker salary: £36,363 - £39,152
Advanced Social Worker salary: £40,777 - £44,075

You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area so you must have a full, valid driving licence with regular access to a vehicle or have an alternative means of travel. Business insurance will need to be added to your insurance policy. You can claim back mileage expenses. Please note that due to the nature of this role, it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained. This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our office in Badminton Road, working from home and working within the community.
