What you will be doing
It will be your responsibility to maintain a tidy site and stop an overspill of material from sites. You will make sure that health, safety and the welfare of employees, public and others are maintained and comply with the site permit, legislation, and council policies and procedures. Keeping up to date and accurate records for the removal of materials from the site will be a key part of your daily role. Assisting the Supervisor and Team Leader, you will control the exchange of containers, ensuring the site always has space to segregate and store material correctly.
What we need from you
It is essential that you have previous experience of working with customers in a waste-related role. You must have an understanding of waste management and recycling practices with the ability to identify hazardous or non-permitted waste types. We require you to have the ability to follow site rules and procedures with basic knowledge of health and safety, including the correct use of PPE. It is key that you can carry out manual handling, including lifting and moving heavy or bulky items safely using equipment such as pallet trucks. It is essential that you can work well within a team, be calm and able to deal with potential conflict or disagreements in a professional manner and advise visitors to site on the rules and help promote recycling.
What you need to know
You must be available for rota-based shifts including weekends and bank holidays. Working outside in all weather conditions, you will work on uneven surfaces with personal protective equipment worn.
