As a Senior Business Analyst, you will play a key role in shaping and designing future digital solutions that deliver services to the residents and frontline key workers of South Gloucestershire. Working within our Discover and Design practice, as part of a multidisciplinary agile development team, your primary focus will be to apply strong business analysis and service design skills to deliver user-centred digital products.
The wider Information, Technology and Digital service provides core IT services for the council. In delivering solutions, we adopt a primarily low-code approach, using our standard technology platform (Dynamics 365, Power Platform and Azure PaaS), alongside configurable COTS business systems.
Working across a range of digital products and projects, you will balance business needs with a strong user-centred design focus, including delivering new digital tools to support frontline services, extending services available via our public website portal, and implementing AI solutions for back-office functions.
It will be your responsibility to work with the business and engage with users, gathering and refining requirements and writing well-articulated user stories with clear acceptance criteria, ready for development. You will work both independently and collaboratively with peers on initiatives drawn from our roadmap and backlog, attending Agile design workshops and peer review sessions.
Using your experience and knowledge, you will identify opportunities for process improvement through the application of digital technology, particularly where automation can be introduced. It will be key for you to design end-to-end service journeys, including the associated customer experience. You will produce documentation and visual materials, such as process diagrams and wireframes, and develop evidence-based proposals with colleagues, including Solution Architects.
You will have strong knowledge and experience in a business analysis, service design or similar role within a technology or digital delivery team. It is essential that you have solid experience of digital transformation, organisational improvement and delivering value for money. We require you to have experience in development methodologies and working within an agile delivery environment.
You will have experience of managing effective customer, stakeholder and supplier relationships and be confident communicating to a wide range of audiences. Given the nature of this role, you will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a demanding workload, prioritise effectively, and communicate complex information clearly. Ideally, you will hold a recognised business analysis (or similar) qualification and demonstrate a working knowledge of tools and techniques commonly used.
This is a 2-year limited term contract. We are also offering this as an internal secondment opportunity; you should first seek your line manager's permission before applying. This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our office Badminton Road, Yate and working from home.
We know our team work best when they have balance in their lives, and we offer genuine flexibility to help them achieve that work/life balance. We invest in the careers of our people, and we are recognised for the quality, breadth and depth of our training and development offer, which helps our people make the greatest long-term difference in their work.
As part of our benefits package, you will receive generous annual leave (pro rata), employee wellbeing support and you will have access to a range of staff discounts, including eye tests, travel, shopping and leisure activities. We recognise that our diverse team of skilled and dedicated people make us a great place to work. We welcome applications from everyone and ensure that individuals are selected, promoted and developed on the basis of their merits and abilities.
