As a Revenues Officer, you will provide advice and guidance to members of the community regarding council tax payments, ensuring that council income is generated in order to sustain vital projects. South Gloucestershire Council are in the top quartile for council tax collection across the country, and you will be critical to maintaining this high standard.

What you will be doing:

  • You will determine eligibility for exemptions, relief and liability for council tax.
  • It will be key for you to update computer records with information obtained from correspondence received via email, post, corporate contact centre and one stop shops.
  • Maintaining close working relationships with other council departments and the valuation office agency, you will exchange information regarding property valuations.

What we need from you:

  • You will hold an NVQ3 in Customer Service or an equivalent level qualification, or have relevant experience working in revenues administration.
  • We require you to have extensive knowledge of council tax legislation and be able to interpret and explain these.
  • You must have excellent customer care skills and an ability to plan and undertake high volumes of work.
  • Although not essential, you may have an Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation qualification.

What you need to know:

This role is hybrid, with a mixture of working at our offices in Yate and working from home. Interviews will be held week commencing 13th July 2026.
