As a Procurement Officer, you will join our Strategic Procurement team and have the opportunity to lead and manage a portfolio of procurement projects. Covering the full procurement lifecycle, you will support from the initial assessment through to contract management and enable continuous improvement. You will use the most appropriate and advantageous routes to ensure compliance with legislation and deliver best value for the council.

Providing professional procurement support across the organisation, you will give accurate and timely advice to internal stakeholders and partner organisations. Supporting council-wide initiatives and improvement programs, you will work on procurement projects from inception to tendering and contract management. It is key that you develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal customers and you will also deliver training sessions to enhance understanding of procurement processes. You will research, analyse and recommend innovative procurement solutions, which will result in you reviewing and managing procurement templates and guidance documents. It will be your responsibility to monitor budgets and financial information to ensure project targets are met. Supporting the Procurement Manager in monitoring and reporting activities, you will oversee spend analysis and deputise when required.

We would prefer you to hold a Level 4 Diploma with the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) or be working towards this qualification. It is essential that you have proven experience in procurement, ideally within the public sector. You must have a strong knowledge and experience of procurement regulations, including PA23 and PCR2015. Due to the nature of the role, you must have excellent communication and negotiation skills. You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work flexibly, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines. It is essential that you’re IT proficient and have a working expertise in operating procurement and contract management platforms.

Interviews are to be held week beginning 2nd February 2026.
