South Gloucestershire Council is looking for an HR Advisor to join the HR Casework and Change team.

How You’ll Make a Difference

Provide quality generalist HR advice, support and guidance. Enable the council to perform people management effectively through consistent and practical support.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Collaborate with senior HR Advisors to support all levels of staff and managers, mainly around sickness absence, occupational health referrals, probation and performance management, and discipline and grievance cases.
  • Manage a caseload, ensuring timely case resolution and risk mitigation while complying with policy and legislation.
  • Monitor and manage the shared HR inbox, respond to enquiries, signpost, and set up cases for allocation.
  • Provide employee information for workforce change projects and produce communications to affected staff; support senior advisors on larger projects.
  • Provide team metrics data and quarterly statistics and administer casework documents effectively.

What We Need From You

  • Generalist HR experience covering sickness absence, probation and performance management case work, and workforce change.
  • Knowledge of employment policies, procedures and the legislative framework.
  • Currently holding or working towards a Level 3 Human Resources qualification such as the CIPD Foundation Certificate in People Practice.
  • Excellent communication skills, confident at all levels, with strong teamwork and relationship‑building abilities.

This role is hybrid – staff work from the Yate office and from home. Recruiting into 2 posts: 1 permanent and 1 limited‑term contract until June 2026. Interviews will be held on 10th December 2025.
