Job Description
How you\\\’ll make a difference
As a Team Manager, you will lead two teams of Family Support Workers, one team works with ages 0-5 and the other with 5-18 year olds. You will ensure that your staff work collaboratively with families to improve outcomes for them.
Preventative Services support families with children who have multiple and/or complex needs which have not been able to be addressed by universal services. The aim is to work with families to help them improve their resilience, achieve positive outcomes and reduce the chance of problems getting worse.
Responsibilities
What you will be doing
- It will be your responsibility to ensure your teams provide evidence based support so that effective help and guidance is provided for families.
- Day to day, you will identify and contribute to training and development strategies and deliver professional supervision, enhancing the skills and performance of team members, ensuring high quality service provision. You will be responsible for all recruitment and retention within the team.
- It will be key for you to manage cases within the relevant service area in accordance with the safeguarding procedures for vulnerable children.
- Making a significant contribution to budget management, you will monitor the spending and ensure that accurate budgeting, reporting and any necessary corrective action is carried out.
- It will be your responsibility to manage and monitor quality and performance to ensure the effectiveness of service provision that processes and procedures are produced, maintained and reviewed for specialist work across service areas.
What we need from you
- We require you to hold a recognised, relevant professional qualification in youth, early years, social care or equivalent management experience.
- Ideally, you will have previous experience of leading teams to achieve optimum performance in delivering excellent social care and preventative services for children, young people and families.
- Given the elements of the role, you will have evidence of on-going continuous professional development and a thorough knowledge of current research, legislation and practice relating to children and young people’s services.
- You will have experience of managing complex projects, programmes and activities.
What you need to know
- This is a limited term position for maternity cover, due to end November 2026.
- Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.
- You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area so you must have a full, valid driving licence with regular access to a vehicle or have an alternative means of travel. Business Insurance will need to be added to your current car insurance policy.
