Overview
As a Lead Operative working within a front-line team, you will deliver grounds services for the parish and town councils. It will be your job to effectively co-ordinate the work through planning and leadership in order to efficiently complete tasks in a timely manner.
What You Will Be Doing
- You will operate specialist equipment such as strimmers, hedge cutters, hand blowers, pole saw and other power tools, to a high standard ensuring that safety procedures are followed and reporting faults and breakdowns as part of routine checks of equipment.
- Checking work is completed to the required standards, you will provide support, advice, and allocate daily tasks to a small group of staff ensuring they have clear instructions.
- Working within the approved risk assessment framework, you will ensure the safety of yourself and colleagues reporting any issues of concern.
- We require you to communicate with customers and give good, accurate advice and information and make sure that documents and records are accurate, up to date and accessible.
What We Need From You
- It is essential that you hold a driving licence and CPC to category C1E with no restrictions and it is desirable for you to hold a street works qualification.
- You will have some experience of using small grounds tools, strimmers, hedge cutters, hand blowers, and have a general understanding of maintenance tasks such as repairing fences, fixing signs and removing graffiti.
- Previous experience with leading a team and planning a work schedule would be preferred.
- We require you to be able to interpret and follow health and safety advice and regulations through written instruction, risk assessments, verbal advice, and toolbox talks.
- You will have working experience of face-to-face contact with the public, giving a high standard of customer care.
- We require you to have a good level of literacy and able to interpret information, instructions, maps and specifications from paper or on a handheld device.
