Overview

As a Social Worker or Advanced Social Worker, your focus will be to deliver high-quality statutory reviews that improve outcomes, promote independence and enhance wellbeing for adults with care and support needs, using a strengths-based and person-centred approach.

Working collaboratively with partners, you will ensure individuals receive timely and appropriate support, enabling them to live as independently as possible.

With a strong emphasis on effective and lawful practice, you will ensure care and support remains appropriate and delivers best value, while supporting confident professional judgement and defensible decision making.

  • What you will be doing
  • Manage a caseload of adults with care and support needs, helping them and their carers to identify goals, build on strengths and develop practical solutions.
  • Complete high-quality reviews, including needs assessments, care and support planning and safeguarding enquiries, ensuring plans remain strengths-based, proportionate, outcome focused and promote independence.
  • Promote dignity, choice and wellbeing in all aspects of practice, using sound professional judgement to balance safety, independence and positive outcomes.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of colleagues across different functions and partner organisations.
  • Maintain accurate, timely and confidential records in line with professional and council standards.
  • Advanced Social Worker – Additional Responsibilities
  • Lead on more complex and high-risk cases, drawing on research and evidence-based practice and taking responsibility for key decisions.
  • Act as a role model to support and develop best practice through advice, mentoring and shared learning.
  • Contribute to workforce development, including supporting and supervising students on placement.
  • Maintain up-to-date core training and actively engage in continuing professional development.
  • What we need from you
  • Hold a recognised professional qualification in social work and be registered with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience in adult social care with a strong understanding of the Care Act 2014, the Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Experience with Continued Health Care (CHC), including completing CHC checklists.
  • Advanced Social Worker – Additional Requirements
  • Significant post-qualification experience, including working with individuals with complex needs.
  • Evidence of advanced level practice with high-quality professional reasoning, sound judgement and leadership in complex situations.
  • Lead role in supporting practice development and promoting high standards across the team.
  • What you need to know
  • To be considered for the Advanced Social Worker role, you must provide clear and detailed evidence within your application. Salary bands are dependent on experience:
  • Advanced Social Worker: £40,777 - £44,075
  • You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area, so a full, valid driving licence with regular access to a vehicle or alternative means of travel is required.
  • Business insurance will need to be added to your insurance policy.
  • You can claim back mileage expenses.
  • An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required due to the nature of the role.
  • This role is hybrid, with a mix of working at our office in Kingswood, from home and in the community.

Interviews will be held week commencing 10th August 2026.
