How you'll make a difference
Vinney Green Secure Children’s Home offers young people a safe, caring environment, where they will experience quality care, education, vocational and life skills training. As a Night Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping to ensure the welfare and care of young people throughout the evening and night.
What you will be doing
- During your shifts, you will monitor all young people at least every five to fifteen minutes to ensure they are safe and secure.
- You will also be involved with undertaking social duties, including talking with clients and providing reassurance to enable them to have a good night’s sleep.
- You will be responsible for issuing non-prescribed medication and personal hygiene materials, entering bedrooms as necessary.
- It will be key for you to answer buzzers from young people immediately and assist in any way.
- Daily, you will wake the young people and supervise breakfast and room cleaning as required.
- You will need to record and maintain written records when necessary.
What we need from you
- You must have an NVQ Level 2 in a relevant subject area or a good standard of education.
- Given the nature of the role, you must be able to help clients cater for their personal needs in a sensitive and professional manner.
- You should have knowledge or previous experience of dealing with young people who present challenging behaviour.
What you need to know
Salary is plus Secure Unit allowance of £2,903.04 per annum, pro-rated to hours worked. Third time enhancement applied to all hours. Additional rates applicable for rostered Sunday shifts (time and a half).
