Vinney Green Secure Children’s Home offers young people a safe, caring environment, where they will experience quality care, education, vocational and life skills training. As a Night Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping to ensure the welfare and care of young people throughout the evening and night.
What You Will Be Doing
- Monitor all young people at least every five to fifteen minutes to ensure they are safe and secure.
- Undertake social duties, including talking with clients and providing reassurance to enable them to have a good night’s sleep.
- Issue non-prescribed medication and personal hygiene materials, entering bedrooms as necessary.
- Answer buzzers from young people immediately and assist in any way.
- Wake the young people and supervise breakfast and room cleaning as required.
- Record and maintain written records when necessary.
What We Need From You
- NVQ Level 2 in a relevant subject area or a good standard of education.
- Ability to help clients cater for their personal needs in a sensitive and professional manner.
- Knowledge or previous experience of dealing with young people who present challenging behaviour.
What You Need To Know
- Salary is plus Secure Unit allowance of £2,903.04 per annum, pro-rated to hours worked.
- Third time enhancement applied to all hours.
- Working an average of 37 hours per week, following a designated shift pattern of 4 on 4 off, alternate weekends and some shifts may be on bank holidays.
- Young people can present physically threatening behaviour and the environment can become tense and anxiety provoking; surveillance cameras are in use in most areas of the building.
- Vinney Green operates a full non-smoking environment, and there is no provision to facilitate smoking anywhere on site.
- Staff’s personal belongings are required to be left in a provided locker on entry into the building and a further physical fitness check may be required.
- This role is demanding and there will be some physically active aspects to the job, but it will be a rewarding role.
- An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this post.
