Through strengths‑based practice, sound professional judgement and a shared commitment to continuous improvement, you will help families develop the confidence, resilience and support networks they need so that children and young people can live in happy, healthy and safe homes.
- What You Will Be Doing
- Work within an established team of experienced social workers undertaking statutory social work in Child Protection (CP), Children in Need (Ci N) and the initial stages of Children in Care (Ci C), as well as Public Law Outline and Care Proceedings.
- Use your creativity to deliver high‑quality, child‑centred practices, ensuring the best outcomes for children and families, supported by our strong culture that gives staff time, freedom and support to improve ways of working.
- Provide information, advice and support to children, young people, their families and carers to enable children to enjoy and achieve social inclusion.
- Safeguard vulnerable children and young people, assess needs, develop plans and provide appropriate services, reviewing plans regularly to achieve outcomes.
- Ensure vulnerable children and young people are protected and supported to achieve positive outcomes through well‑planned, integrated and coordinated services.
- What We Need From You
- Must be a qualified Social Worker (or pending award).
- Must be eligible to register to practice with Social Work England.
- Must be proficient at solving problems, confident in making important decisions and passionate about working with children, young people and families to meet their goals and aspirations.

This role sits within an area currently undergoing a period of change due to the government‑led social care reform.
As the sector evolves, some elements of the role may naturally develop, offering opportunities to grow, adapt and be part of meaningful change.
You will be fully informed throughout and supported, valued and confident as updates arise.
- The role is currently based in the South Locality Hub in Kingswood but the final location may change through the social care reform process and is likely to form part of future Family Help Hubs.
- Although advertised as a full‑time position, we welcome applications from experienced social workers who may be seeking part‑time, job share or flexible working arrangements.
- An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is mandatory.
- Must have a valid driving licence with access to vehicle insured for business use or an alternative suitable means of travel, and must travel across the authority and surrounding area.
