How You\’ll Make a Difference

As a Health and Care Intelligence Specialist Apprentice, you will support the public health division and wider council to promote healthier lifestyles and reduce inequalities within the population it serves.

Working as part of a team of specialists, you will help develop public health intelligence, supporting the needs of the Public Health Team and partners within South Gloucestershire Council and the Integrated Care System.

What You Will Be Doing

During the 36-month Level 7 Apprenticeship with JGA Group, you will:

  • Provide professional statistical advice, explaining complex statistics to non-statistical professionals to enable evidence-based decisions.
  • Specify requirements with customers and advise on data collection, storage, analysis, and dissemination.
  • Analyze and interpret complex health, care, and population data using specialist techniques.
  • Support maintenance and development of health needs assessments such as the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment.
  • Contribute to skills development and dissemination within the council.
  • Maintain a library of electronic reference materials relevant to health data.

Minimum Requirements

You should have relevant experience working with data and generating intelligence, along with:

  • GCSE English and maths at grade C/4 or above (or Functional Skills Level 2).
  • Relevant undergraduate degree or higher qualification in STEM, social sciences with research/statistics modules, or equivalent experience.

Additional Information

Successful candidates will complete a Level 7 apprenticeship, provide a 10-minute presentation at interview, and undertake a skills assessment with JGA Group. You must have the right to work in England and not be enrolled in other full-time education or apprenticeships.

The role involves on-the-job training within the Population Health team, using software such as Excel, R, NVivo, and PowerBI, supported by regular reviews and mentorship.
