Specialist Tutor (English and Maths Extra)

Location: Filton campus (with occasional travel to other campuses)
FTE Salary: up to ÂŁ35,793.00 (Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience)
Actual Salary: Up to ÂŁ31,473.24
Contract Type: Permanent, TermâTime only
Working Hours: 37 hours a week, 36 weeks a year

Would you like to work for a successful and positive team that puts learners at the heart of everything they do? English and Maths Extra supports and develops learners to become the best they can be, and we are looking for a specialist tutor to join our dynamic and forwardâthinking team.
Specialist tutors are required to deliver both English and maths, but if you have a preference for one subject, we will try to timetable you according to your strengths when and where possible. For example, if you are a maths specialist the majority of your lessons will be maths. We will also train you to teach English and develop your understanding of the English GCSE syllabus, with continued support throughout.
This post is termâtime only (36 weeks), with pay aggregated across the year.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Provide high quality delivery oneâtoâone, or to small groups.
- Deliver interventions in a classroom or individual and small group settings.
- Use a range of multiâsensory approaches in Functional Skills and GCSE English and Maths.
- Building bespoke learning plans tailored to individual needs and that promote independent learning.
- Monitoring learner achievement and engagement.
- Collaborating effectively with course tutors, the Exams Team, and parents/carers to support student success.
- Training students and staff in the use of assistive technology.
Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
- To have excellent knowledge of GCSE and Functional Skills English and maths examinations.
- Classroom teaching.
- To have knowledge of exam access arrangements.
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and students.
- PGCE or alternative teaching qualification.
- Level 5 or above qualification in teaching learners with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyscalculia or ADHD.
- L7 Exams Access Arrangements qualification (CCET and C3PTA).
