Location: Stroud Campus

FTE Salary: Up to £25,572 (Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience)

Actual Salary: Up to £8,473.74

Contract Type: Permanent, Part-Time, Term Time Only

Working Hours: 14.5 hours per week, 38 weeks per year

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Assist with requests and enquiries made in person, via email or Teams by researching information through computerised and non‑computerised catalogues.
  • Support students in using electronic and paper‑based resources, helping to fulfill research requirements and develop digital and information handling skills.
  • Carry out day‑to‑day library duties including issuing items, reservations, organising the catalogue and maintaining circulation records.
  • Assist in the supervision of the library in line with expected behaviour guidelines and the college disciplinary procedure.
  • Support students in using a wide variety of software and electronic resources including Microsoft Office applications, eBooks and a variety of databases.
  • Proactively engage with curriculum managers and staff to develop a wide range of subject‑specific resources.
  • Help the Library Manager promote internal services, study skills programmes, and physical and electronic resources.
  • Support the planning, coordination and promotion of library‑based learner engagement activities, including themed events, reading initiatives and challenges, creative or cultural activities, informal games‑based learning, and other activities that encourage library use, reading, digital literacy and wider learning.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 GCSEs or NVQ Level 2.
  • Level 2 or higher IT qualification.
  • Professional qualification in a library/information related subject via a CILIP approved route.
  • Excellent IT skills and an understanding of Information Learning Technologies.
  • Awareness of accessibility issues related to the use of information technology and library resources.
  • Ability to contribute to engaging library‑based activities or initiatives that support learner engagement, reading, digital literacy or wider learning.
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for developing library‑led initiatives that promote reading, digital literacy or wider learning.
