Role Overview:

Are you passionate about making a real difference in learners’ lives? SGS College is seeking enthusiastic individuals to become an integral part of our learning support team. In this rewarding role, you’ll work closely with learners, offering personalised one-to-one and small group guidance in the classroom and across our College community. You’ll support through targeted interventions, workshops, trips and work experience, empowering students to overcome barriers and engage with every aspect of their education. You will be part of a team that provides high-quality support to learners with a variety of educational needs, helping them to thrive and enjoy college life.

This position offers a wonderful opportunity for those aspiring to advance their professional journey toward becoming a teacher or other roles in a college setting. It is also an inspiring option for individuals approaching the latter stages of their career, providing a platform to share your skills and experience. Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • To work collaboratively with curriculum staff in-class to support learner progress and achievement in the classroom.
  • To supervise learners during unstructured times when they are not directly supervised by curriculum staff (e.g. breaks, lunch times, arrivals and departures).
  • To provide out-of-class academic support for learners on an individual or group basis.
  • To complete all necessary administrative duties, such as accurately recording student support, in a constructive manner.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications:

  • Good standard of general education including Maths and English at GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent), or willingness to upskill.
  • A desirable but not essential is experience of working with young people aged 16-25 with additional needs and/or EHCPs. This experience would preferably be within education, but other experiences related to health, social care or in the community is also very relevant.
  • Experience or the willingness to learn Office 365 and its applications.
