  • Working Hours: 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year
  • FTE Salary: up to £28,050 pro rata (Salary depends on qualifications and experience)
  • Actual Salary: up to £24,341.95

About the Role:

This role will sit within the cross-college English and maths department, and the postholder will report directly to the Learning Area Manager. We are looking to appoint a Learner Engagement Officer who will be responsible for assisting the team in ensuring students are punctual, attend lessons and commit fully to their studies inside and outside of the classroom. Importantly, you will work with students to model positive behaviours and take greater ownership of their progress. You will be responsible for helping to celebrate excellence, but also putting in timely interventions as and when required.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Access and analyse attendance data daily to identify patterns of concern
  • Take immediate safeguarding action when necessary, referring cases to the Safeguarding and Support Team
  • Identify students with concerning attendance trends and coordinate interventions with relevant staff, including Wellbeing Mentors, to provide targeted support
  • Develop strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external agencies to promote attendance, punctuality, and overall well-being
  • Administer attendance-related IT systems, ensuring accurate data recording, maintenance, and report generation for monitoring and analysis

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ability to analyse attendance and absence data to identify trends and target interventions
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures, with the ability to refer students to internal and external support services
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents/carers, and staff to support attendance and wellbeing
  • Ability to collaborate with managers and safeguarding teams to deliver attendance and intervention strategies
  • Confident use of IT systems for data management, reporting, and accurate record-keeping
  • Experience mentoring students to support personal development, progression, and positive behaviour in line with College policies
