To provide administration and/or clerical support at a basic level with basic supervision, covering specific short-term work or assignments, or supporting the team's basic administrative duties. Additionally, working towards a Level 3 qualification via assessment routes and collaborative sign-off with the University and tuition provider.

Training course: Business Administrator (Level 3)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm. 35 hours a week

Work: As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and gain hands-on experience, developing new skills and working alongside experienced staff.

What you'll do at work:

  • Use University IT systems to enter data into relevant databases, ensuring accuracy by checking against source data.
  • Solve basic problems on a daily/regular basis using pre-prepared responses or materials.
  • Make basic decisions regarding work orders and daily requirements.
  • Follow established procedures to order and monitor stock levels of consumables.
  • Arrange meetings for colleagues and visitors as directed.
  • Handle telephone calls/emails, providing standard guidance or taking messages within prescribed standards.
  • Greet visitors and students, providing basic information and guidance.
  • Undertake internal training as required.
  • Attend college day release sessions in line with attendance policies and maintain satisfactory progress as per the learning agreement.

Training: An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or training organization. At least 20% of your working hours will be dedicated to training or studying.

After this apprenticeship: While a permanent role cannot be guaranteed, the majority of apprentices secure open-ended employment.
