The School of Creative and Performing Arts is looking to appoint an exceptional candidate to be the course leader of our established Level 3 Extended Diploma Fashion Design programme. We invite applications for lecturers to join our successful Art and Design team as a lecturer in Fashion Design.
We are seeking a proactive and motivated individual to join the Department which has an expanding programme. The successful applicant will have industry experience and will be required to deliver engaging lessons to students enrolled on our Level 3 Diploma programmes across a range of ability levels. Your duties will include designing schemes of work, planning lessons, assessing and providing regular feedback to students, as well as monitoring that learners are on track to succeed in each aspect of their programme of study.
You should have a good up-to-date knowledge of fashion design and the fashion industry. Knowledge of pattern cutting and previous teaching experience is desirable. We are looking for a strong communicator who can work closely with others in our friendly team, as well as students, parents, carers and other stakeholders.
It is essential that you possess good practical skills, software knowledge and industry experience, which would also be advantageous to ensure that our students are ready to progress from the college into industry or higher education. You will bring a high level of creativity, energy, and commitment to the post. You should be able to impart your own enthusiasm to our students and ensure they receive the highest level of pre-degree education.
Previous experience of working with Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma students is desirable. You will need to be a qualified teacher and hold a relevant degree as well as having practical experience within the industry. Relevant academic and industry experience is welcomed. You should be able to bring your industry and/or teaching experiences into this fast-evolving area.
You will demonstrate an ability to motivate students and work as part of a team to engage and build relationships with our external organisations, institutions and individuals. With a focus on digital strategy, marketing and management, you will be part of a dynamic department focusing on sustainability, research practice and overall fashion marketing and management across different sectors while embracing the digital arena from both an education delivery and research perspective.
The post holder will ensure the needs of our learners come first and that every learner will be provided with opportunities to achieve their full potential within a safe, stimulating and supportive environment. You are expected to deliver high-quality learning and teaching ensuring that you are maintaining standards expected by the College, awarding and professional bodies, industry, stakeholders and learners.
You are expected to develop appropriate teaching techniques and materials which enable all learners to achieve their full potential and take account of educational initiatives.
