We are seeking an experienced and inspirational Head of Additional Learning Support to lead a high‑performing service that enables learners with SEND and additional needs to achieve their full potential.
The successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership across Additional Learning Support, ensuring high‑quality, learner‑centred provision that meets statutory requirements and delivers outstanding outcomes.
About the Role
The Head of Additional Learning Support will lead the planning, development and delivery of inclusive support services across the college.
You will manage multidisciplinary teams, drive continuous improvement, oversee quality assurance and safeguarding, and work collaboratively with curriculum leaders, external agencies and families to ensure learners receive excellent support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for the Additional Learning Support service.
- Lead and develop inclusive practice across the college.
- Manage budgets, staffing and resources to deliver high‑quality services and value for money.
- Ensure compliance with SEND legislation, safeguarding and equality duties.
- Lead quality assurance, performance management and service improvement.
- Work closely with curriculum managers and external partners to secure outstanding learner outcomes.
- Oversee provision for learners with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and additional support needs.
- Support safeguarding as Assistant Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead for SEND.
About You
- Successful leadership experience within FE, education or SEND services.
- Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, inclusive practice and safeguarding.
- Experience leading and developing multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
- A commitment to equality, inclusion and outstanding learner experience.
