Join our team at Statera Operations Thurrock Energy Storage Site, gaining hands‑on experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance. You’ll learn to troubleshoot, inspect and maintain advanced energy storage systems, ensuring site safety and efficiency while working towards a Level 3 Engineering qualification.
Wage: £14,976 for your first year, then may increase depending on your age. National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices.
Training course: Maintenance and operations engineering technician (level 3).
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm (some flexibility may be required). 36 hours a week.
Starting date: Tuesday 1 September 2026.
Duration: 3 years 3 months. Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands‑on experience.
What you’ll do at work:
- Assist with planned and reactive maintenance on battery energy storage systems (BESS) and Gas Engines.
- Learn to diagnose faults and carry out repairs on electrical and mechanical components.
- Support engineers with inspections, testing, and safety procedures.
- Develop knowledge of energy storage operations, working alongside experienced professionals.

Training: Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills. Training provider: SOUTH ESSEX COLLEGE OF FURTHER AND HIGHER EDUCATION.
Training course: Full Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Apprenticeship. One day will be spent at our Luckyn Lane Campus in Basildon.
Requirements: GCSE in Maths and English (grade 4 or equivalent). Share any other relevant qualifications and industry experience; the apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
