Your new role
Southend‑on‑Sea City Council is looking for reliable, customer‑focused individuals to join our Integrated Equipment Service as a Driver / Equipment Fitter. This is a unique opportunity to start or develop a career in Adult Social Care, supporting local residents to live safely and independently in their own homes.
About the role
As part of our busy equipment service team, you will:
- Deliver and install essential equipment (e.g. beds, hoists, seating)
- Support people recently discharged from hospital or needing care support
- Work across the Southend area in homes and community settings
- Interact with service users, carers and professionals in a respectful and supportive way
- Ensure equipment is fitted safely and correctly
This is a hands‑on, physical role where no two days are the same.
What you'll need to succeed
What we’re looking for:
- Good communicators – friendly, respectful and able to put people at ease
- Practical and problem‑solving – confident using tools or working hands‑on
- Reliable and organised – able to manage their time and workload
- Team players – happy working as part of a supportive team

You must:
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- Be comfortable working in people’s homes
- Be willing to undertake training in equipment fitting and safe working
