We are seeking an experienced Web Developer to join our small web team. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development of modern web applications across the company's digital estate. You will balance your time between building brand-new, customer-facing solutions, maintaining our existing websites, and continually developing our bespoke headless CMS built on the Sanity framework.
Main Responsibilities
- Website and Application Development: Design, build, and deploy new, high-performance customer-facing websites, applications, and digital solutions.
- Maintenance & Optimisation: Maintain, debug, and scale existing web properties to ensure a seamless user experience.
- Deployment & Version Control: Manage CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows to ensure reliable delivery of code.
- Agile Collaboration: Track tickets and document progress effectively within an Agile framework.
Skills/Qualifications/Experience
- Core Web: Highly proficient in HTML5, CSS/SCSS, Javascript and Typescript.
- Frontend Libraries & Frameworks: Strong commercial experience with the React library, alongside build tools and frameworks like Vite and Gatsby.
- Data & APIs: Moderate to strong understanding of GraphQL for querying data, particularly within the Gatsby and Sanity ecosystems.
- Testing: Knowledge of React Testing Library (RTL) and testing tools like Vitest/Jest.
- Backend & Databases: Strong experience with Node.js and serverless architectures. Experience developing on and working with Sanity CMS, Firebase, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You should also possess a moderate understanding of both SQL and NoSQL database architectures.
- Tools & Pipelines: Solid understanding of version control using GitHub and the CI/CD processes of Netlify Hosting.
- Project Management: Familiarity with issue tracking and agile workflows via JIRA.
- UI/UX Collaboration: Experience translating designs or written scope into responsive, pixel-perfect code.
- Web Standards: A strong grasp of web accessibility guidelines (WCAG), Core Web Vitals, and technical SEO best practices.
Proactive Problem-Solver: You can take ownership of tasks from concept to deployment and are eager to figure out elegant solutions to technical challenges.
Clear Communicator: You are comfortable discussing technical constraints or architectural decisions with both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders.
