Alongside targeting of leakage, the successful candidate would be expected to perform area specific deep dives and investigations to help improve our overall understanding of the network to ensure more efficient identification of leakage. There will also be an element of regulatory reporting making this a great opportunity to begin a career in the water industry.
The Leakage Data team is expanding, meaning you'll work with a wide range of data on exciting projects, including innovative techniques like satellite surveys, drone surveys, and dark fibre. We are dedicated to continuous improvement of our processes to ensure all components of the water balance are as accurate as possible.
You will need to be proficient in the use of data manipulation tools. A bonus would be understanding of water networks but this can be learnt within the role. If you are driven by challenging projects and providing high-quality, granular insight, you will find this role both rewarding and crucial to ensuring we remain compliant and meet our team objectives.
Main responsibilities:
- Lead the regulatory reporting of leakage and the water balance, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Work within the Leakage Data Team as we develop a new system and methodology for leakage management and reporting.
- Provide analysis of Zonal and DMA nightline data to explain movements and trend analysis.
- Identify errors, trends, and unusual activity through data analysis.
- Receive, interpret, input, and update technical information to ensure the integrity of recorded information and record databases.
- Continuously improve processes and data to ensure all components of the water balance are as accurate as possible and readily available for timely reporting.
- Evaluate and analyse operational information and understand data integrity difficulties to resolve basic problems.
- Support the development of new systems and insight into leakage operations to enable field teams to work as efficiently as possible.
Other duties may include:
- Supporting the roll-out of Smart Water Networks and interpreting the resulting data and alarms to reduce leakage and the impact of supply interruptions.
What you'll need:
- Educated to a degree level, including some level of statistical analysis experience (e.g., an undergraduate module in statistics).
- A strong understanding of statistical analytics.
- Proficiency in data manipulation tools.
- An understanding of the component parts of regulatory reported leakage.
- The ability to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems.
- A basic level of Structured Query Language (SQL) to efficiently retrieve, manipulate and clean large datasets from operational databases (e.g., asset management systems, SCADA systems).
Grow a career with a meaningful purpose. We know the communities we serve are diverse. We recognise creativity comes from diversity not similarity. That's why we are enthusiastic about creating inclusion across age, race, gender, ethnicity, religion and identity. You will experience our dedication to equal opportunities and fair treatment for all: through your recruitment, employment and career progression with South East Water.
Benefits package:
