Are you ready to take full ownership of your own technical deliverables within a Capital delivery programme? Are you looking to gain comprehensive, end-to-end project experience from early conception through to final commissioning and completion? We are seeking an ambitious Assistant Process Engineer to contribute to the development, implementation, and improvement of our potable water solutions. Working under the supervision of a Senior Process Engineer, you will be involved from early project conception through to final commissioning and completion. This role offers a clear pathway to professional growth, giving you full responsibility for your own technical deliverables within our wider Capital delivery programme.

Although this role offers flexible/hybrid working (office/home), you will be expected to travel to any location or site within South East Water's supply areas, as required, as part of the project(s) you or your team are working on e.g. pre-construction and construction phase elements such as scoping or Contractor progress/design review meetings, defect reviews etc.

Main responsibilities:

  • Supporting Process Development: Assist with the development and scale-up of chemical and pilot trial processes.
  • Data Analysis and Monitoring: Collect, analyse, and interpret data from the company's internal database, manufacturers, literature and any other relevant sources to identify areas for improvement.
  • Process Documentation: Prepare and maintain process documentation, including process flow diagrams and operating instructions.
  • Troubleshooting: Participate in troubleshooting production and process issues and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to process improvement initiatives, such as implementing new technologies or refining existing methods.
  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including production, water quality, and engineering, to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all processes adhere to industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Learning and Development: Actively participate in training and professional development to enhance knowledge and skill.
  • Commissioning and Validation: Assist with the commissioning and validation of new equipment and processes.

You’ll need:

  • Relevant industry/discipline related qualification or relevant work experience.
  • Technical Skills: Understanding of engineering principles, process, and analytical tools.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and solve complex process issues.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse data, identify trends and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Communications Skills: Ability to communicate technical knowledge clearly and effectively to a varied audience of varying levels of understanding and abilities.
  • Collaboration: Form good working relationships with project teams, project stakeholders and contract partners to deliver sound process solutions.
  • Time management and effective planning.
  • Knowledge of potable water process and treatment stages to ensure the supply of wholesome water.
