The Mechanical Reliability Maintenance Technician is a crucial technical role dedicated to the maintenance of mechanical equipment across our production sites. In this role, you will be integral to improving the lifespan and reliability of our critical production assets. Your primary purpose is to undertake specialised maintenance and technical work that directly ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our equipment. By applying your expertise, you will help us maintain high operational standards while ensuring our assets perform at their best.
Main Responsibilities
- Undertaking the mechanical planned maintenance activities as per the organisational maintenance strategy, including performing the planned maintenance task and first-line remedial work identified when performing the task.
- Monitor and maintain site security and ensure all work areas are left in a clean and tidy condition.
- Assist with engineering capital works as needed.
- Work strictly in line with company policies, procedures, and safe systems of work.
- Issuing Permits to Work, participating in Confined Space Entries (with provided BA training).
- Ensuring the security of the production site.
- Maintain and update site manuals.
- Supervise the work of Contractors and external service providers on site.
- Ensure the accurate and timely completion of all necessary administration associated with reactive and planned electrical maintenance work, including updates onto business and work management systems.
- Complete routine administration such as timesheets, health and safety forms, and vehicle record sheets.
- Provide out-of-hours support by participating in a standby roster.
- Drive Company vehicles, which may include the towing of plant and equipment.
You’ll need:
- Qualified to City & Guilds (C&G) or an equivalent vocational level in the mechanical field.
- Good standard of secondary education and able to demonstrate a good standard of numeracy and literacy skills.
- National Water Hygiene (provided by the business).
- Ability to diagnose electrical failures in assets such as pumps, valves and control systems.
- Ability to use electronic work management systems for logging work, viewing schematics and interacting with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) or SCADA systems to monitor site operations and adjust parameters.
- Ability to clearly report complex technical issues to management and work effectively with external contractors and team members.
- Ability to take ownership of maintenance tasks, work independently on remote sites and demonstrate the dedication required to complete critical repairs safely and efficiently, often under pressure.
- Experience in the utilities/infrastructure industry (preferably the water industry).
- An appropriate level of experience in the electrical maintenance of water specific production site assets.
