We are seeking a skilled and motivated Hydro Engineer to join our Engineering Hydrogeology team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivery of hydrogeological and geological engineering outputs for various capital engineering projects. Working under the guidance of the Lead Hydrogeologist and collaborating with Project Managers, you will contribute to technical deliverables across all stages of project delivery—from feasibility and scoping through to construction and commissioning.
Main responsibilities:
- Development of technical solutions and coordinating work with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Production of technical reports and the ability to work independently and as a team member to carry out checking, reviews and approval of complex technical reports and analyses.
- Analysis of options and selection of technical solutions as appropriate.
- Feel empowered to act on the best available data within the guidelines of SEW and Regulatory frameworks.
- Ensuring contractors work complies with both SEW, Regulatory and Industry best practice.
- Assistance in preparation of scoping documents, project reports and close out documents in concert with contractors and other SEW teams.
- Review and authorize technical works for final sign off by Lead Hydrogeologist.
- Support direct reports when working independently either on projects or in the field.
- Maintain BH condition database and use best judgement when assessing criteria.
- On-site inspection of works and surveys in accordance with industry best practice and regulatory guidance.
- Challenge preconceptions and approach problems with new perspectives.
- Participation in multi disciplinary meetings to ensure the smooth transition of information.
You’ll need:
- Working knowledge of hydrogeological principles.
- Working toward engineering chartership.
- Ability to work closely with others.
- Technically competent knowing when to refer to others when required.
- Experience analysing BH performance using industry standard techniques.
- Good technical report writing and good oral communication.
- A developing understanding of the multi disciplinary approach to operating as a Hydrogeologist in today’s academic & industrial setting (catchment issues, regulatory issues, land contamination, engineering).
- Competent IT skills, conversant with the Google suite.
- You will ideally have gained experience in the water industry or within the broader utilities and/or subsurface industry.
- Experience of delivering engineering outcomes to industry standards.
- Exposure to water industry practices.
- Knowledge of water industry regulators.
- Good technical delivery on projects.
- Minimal Technical issues on projects.
- Work under pressure and progress work within budget and deadlines.
- Ability to work closely with others and communicate effectively.
