Do you have a passion for protecting our environment and a talent for making a tangible impact? Are you a dedicated environmental professional looking for a new challenge? South East Water\’s Environmental Performance Team is looking for an Environmental Performance Officer to help us manage the environmental and ecological aspects of our projects. You\’ll work with a variety of teams and partners to reduce environmental risks, ensure compliance, and promote a healthy ecosystem, all while having the chance to focus on your areas of interest, such as environmental engineering or developing sustainable strategies. Main responsibilities: Assist in the program of biodiversity restoration and enhancement projects. Support in a programme of monitoring and implementation of biosecurity protocols to prevent spread of invasive non-native species (INNS). Provide environmental advice on how projects should proceed and identify likely environmental sensitivities. Work with other South East Water teams to identify ways to minimize environmental impact in delivery and provide practical solutions. Liaison with environmental regulators, obtaining consents and advice where necessary, and reporting back to the business. Engage with technical specialists where required and provide practical solutions to the project team. Detailed reporting, consultation and setting out mitigation on key issues such as heritage and protected species. Assist with permits required to deliver projects on time and budget, including planning permission and flood risk applications. Coordinate technical reports to a high standard to meet internal and regulatory deadlines. Check and review work prepared by others. Manage and audit contractors and contract documents to ensure environmental risks are effectively represented and managed. Collaborate with other staff in the design of monitoring programs to demonstrate project outcomes. Auditing/site inspections to ensure compliance with regulation
