Are you a curious and experienced Electrical Engineer looking for a role with real purpose? Do you want to apply your skills to exciting, complex projects that deliver clean, safe drinking water to communities across the South East? You'll be part of a friendly, collaborative team where your expertise is valued and you get to see the tangible impact of your work every day. You'll be involved in all stages of our capital engineering projects, from initial idea through to commissioning, playing a vital role in providing an essential service.

Although this role offers flexible/hybrid working (office/home), you will be expected to travel to any location or site within South East Water’s supply areas, as required, as part of the project(s) you are working on e.g. pre-construction and construction phase elements such as scoping or Contractor progress/design review meetings, defect reviews etc.

Main responsibilities:
  • Development of technical solutions and coordinating work with multi-disciplinary teams (Process, Civil and Mechanical).
  • Production of technical reports and the ability to work independently and as a team member to carry out checking, reviews and approval of complex electrical detailed designs, to include calculations, specifications, reports and drawings.
  • Analysis of options and selection of technical solutions as appropriate.
  • Ensuring contractors designs comply with the latest company specifications and other relevant industry specifications (Wimes, IET wiring regulations etc.) and legislations.
  • Development of outline scheme designs.
  • Assistance in preparation of scheme programmes, estimates and tender documentation.
You'll need:
  • HNC or a Degree in Engineering or equivalent training in the relevant area.
  • Working towards becoming an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer with the IET.
  • Extensive experience in water utilities would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work closely with others.
  • Technically competent knowing when to refer to others when required.
  • Good technical report writing and editorial skills, and good oral communication.
  • Detailed knowledge of PLC systems, HMI’s, Variable Speed Drives, Harmonic filtration, data networks, telemetry systems and Standby Generator systems.
  • Competent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite - knowledge of Google Workspace would be beneficial.
