In this Production Technician role, you will be responsible for the monitoring, controlling and maintenance of the sludge treatment process at Barcombe treatment works. You will oversee the proper usage of chemicals throughout the treatment process, as well as ensuring the sludge works and related sites are running efficiently. Some experience in the water industry, either in fresh water or waste management is crucial. This will allow you to work independently and ensure that all compliance and health and safety measures are adhered to. Ideally, you have strong record keeping skills and are able to use basic IT systems. As well as looking after sludge treatment, you will also be expected to maintain the grounds and lagoon, ensuring everything is tidy and well maintained. If you enjoy having the freedom to plan your day out and work independently, this role will suit you.

In this role, you will be working Monday to Friday 7:30 - 3:30, with a half hour early finish on Fridays. You will be based at the Barcombe site only and will not be required to work a standby rota. There are some opportunities for overtime, but this will be on an ad hoc basis.

Main responsibilities:
  • Monitoring and maintaining security of the sludge works on the production site.
  • Accurately completing all necessary administration associated with reactive and planned maintenance work relating to sludge works.
  • Ensuring Barcombe sludge works are in a clean and tidy condition.
  • Adhering to all H&S legislation, Company policies and Production "Standard Operating Procedures" (SOP).
  • Assisting other members of the Production team with Confined Space Entry where 3 or more bodies are required to complete a job. Training will be provided.
  • Recording and archiving of operational data relating to sludge works where appropriate.
Experience / Qualifications / Skills (Essential):
  • Educated to GCSE level
  • IT literate and able to use basic systems.
  • Good administrative skills.
  • Some experience in water industry (waste water or fresh)
  • Knowledge of front loader / WAMITAB are desirable but not essential.
