Overview

In this role as Water Efficiency Education Lead, you will be designing and delivering educational materials around water conservation for both adults and children. This involves promoting and delivering our Aquasmart program to schools and educational groups throughout the region. You will give talks, collaborate with teachers to improve the Aquanauts program, and help arrange school visits to the Flow Zone Education site with SES Water. You are confident, great at networking and able to create partnerships and collaborate with various stakeholders such as schools, local authorities, universities and parents.
You will also be a key driver in creating and launching a new water efficiency programme aimed at higher education and workplaces. Your goal is to inspire and empower adults to adopt water-saving behaviours at work and home. As a natural and confident communicator, you\’ll adapt educational activities for different age groups, from Key Stages 1 to 4 to university students and professionals. Your creative approach will be essential in developing interactive and practical activities.
We\’re looking for someone with previous formal teaching experience, ideally in a classroom setting, who understands how to create compelling material for a wide range of audiences. Previous experience in the water industry is not essential, as we can provide you with all the necessary subject matter expertise. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in the community. You will spend most of your time out of the office, delivering educational sessions and gathering feedback to ensure our programmes remain at a high standard. Some knowledge of school trip logistics and risk assessments is also a plus.
Main responsibilities
- Delivering the Educational programme on water efficiency through educational talks, visits and activities to children of all ages using our Aquasmart platform
- Creating and delivering an adult education programme to adults in the workplace to encourage water efficiency behaviours in the workplace and home
- Proactively engaging schools or other educational establishments to participate in our Aquasmart programme and promoting other services we can offer them (e.g. water efficiency audits, waterbutts, devices etc)
- Working alongside our Water Efficiency Leads for both HH and NHH to promote water efficiency practices to our customers and across the business
- Managing workload and own diary in regard to visits to schools, businesses etc
- Adapting educational activities to different age ranges, from Key Stages 1 to 4 and sixth form students, as well as adults in workplaces
- Getting involved in the scoping of water efficiency activities
- Gathering feedback on the educational programmes delivered and using it to improve our offerings to ensure they remain at a high standard
Skills / Qualifications / Experience
- Educated to degree level standard or equivalent with relevant experience
- Formal teaching experience
- Experience of creating educational activities and talks for different audiences
- Natural, confident communicator
- Full, clean driving license
- Water industry knowledge is desirable but not essential
