Summary
This role is key to South East Water's future as we implement the AMP8 investment programme (2025‑2030) which will add about £1.8 billion to infrastructure and services.
You will collaborate across the business to identify gaps in performance of assets—including water treatment works, the 14,500 km network of mains, pumping stations, reservoirs and underground aquifers—and use Asset Management processes to define necessary interventions.
Responsibilities
- Work within a planning team to manage asset risks, ensure regulatory compliance and deliver business objectives.
- Collaborate with data/reporting owners to identify and manage emerging risks that could impact company targets within the TOTEX environment.
- Support production of Asset Management plans, identifying investment needs at the Resource Zone level for whole‑life management of existing assets and enhancements required by wider strategic plans.
- Identify gaps between the Asset Management Strategy and current asset performance or investment plans, raising these as investment needs.
- Develop costed programmes to address these needs and transform them into project briefs for delivery; ensure solutions are fit for purpose, meet operational needs and present the lowest whole‑life cost.
- Collaborate with Operations and other functional areas to define critical operational interventions and maintenance requirements that maximise asset performance and life while enabling efficiency.
- Contribute to wholesale plan development and the 5‑year Business Plans, following regulatory guidelines, lessons from prior submissions and direction from business‑wide strategic plans such as WRMP, 25YEP and climate projections.
- Explore alternative technologies and innovation for schemes, balancing risks against whole‑life cost, carbon and other capital benefits.

- Professional or graduate membership (IAM, ICE, CIWEM, APM, IET, IMECHE, IOW).
- Ability to present complex information with clarity to senior management.
- Project management skills.
- Experience as an asset management practitioner (minimum 2 years, preferably in the water sector).
- Long‑term asset planning experience.
- Experience with water distribution networks or production assets and processes.
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks and cycles (price reviews).
