This isn’t just about managing assets; it’s about shaping the future of our network. As our Senior Civil Engineer, you’ll be the technical heartbeat of our non-infrastructure capital projects. From the first spark of a concept to the final site completion, you’ll provide the solutions that keep our treatment works and plants running at their best.

Responsibilities

  • The coordination and management of Civil Engineering direct reports, including conducting 1:1/Feedback sessions, conducting appraisals, managing workload, technical support, approval of holiday and expenses, quality control, and facilitating support during reactive and emergency work situations.
  • Check and Review of project scopes ensuring they achieve the required outputs and quality standards.
  • Providing technical solutions and support on complex capital projects, including the production of Scope Documents, Works & Site Information, Design Drawings, CDM Documents and compilation of job packs to required deadlines.
  • Liaison with multiple technical disciplines, internal stakeholders and external 3rd parties, to seek approvals to facilitate projects.
  • Undertaking site visits to conduct audits, acquire relevant project inputs and provide guidance to contractors.
  • Work closely with Project Managers regarding delivery dates, programme and cost analysis.

Skills / Qualifications / Experience

  • HNC, HND or degree in Civil Engineering or similar.
  • Chartered (expected) or close to achieving Chartership.
  • Extensive experience in the utility sector, with a focus on potable water infrastructure, specifically above-ground civil and structural works for water treatment and storage facilities.
  • Proven expertise in delivering robust earth-retaining solutions, ranging from engineered embankments to complex concrete basement structures.
  • Strong experience in design, construction and maintenance of non-infrastructure and infrastructure assets, including WTW, Booster plants, pipelines, services and hydraulics.
  • Experience of site supervision for civil engineering construction projects.
  • A keen, committed and motivated individual with excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrate and implement sound engineering judgement.
  • Strong understanding of CDM 2015 and how it is applied to projects.
  • Competent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite - knowledge of Google Workspace would be desirable.
  • A UK driving licence.
